Creative Flutist Studio
Creative Flutist Studio was created to cultivate the art of flute playing, to enjoy flute community, and to enhance the wholistic and creative process of learning, teaching and performing music. At Creative Flutist Studio, students have weekly private lessons and get to know and play for each other in monthly group classes that are offered by Ms. Keeney and the guest Artists she brings in each year. The group classes also teach the students in the art of listening, and are instructed to listen attentively with sensitivity, in an open, caring, respectful and positive way. Ms. Keeney encourages and supports an environment of community, collaboration and celebration for learning and enjoying music. This is expressed in a clear, compassionate, kind and energetic way. We like to share our music in the community and the Studio gives recitals and performs for schools, assisted care homes, hospitals and hospices.

Her students continue to become Texas All- State Flutists, to win the Flute Club Young Artist Competitions, the Houston Symphony League Concerto Competition, The Denise Jennings Competition and the National radio program From The Top and MTNA, among others. Ms. Keeney's students have been accepted at many of the finest music school and universities such as: The Juilliard School of Music, Eastman School of Music, Carnegie Mellon, University of Southern California, University of Texas-Austin, San Francisco Conservatory, Colorado University at Boulder, University of Michigan, Du Paul University, Boston University, Northwestern University and New England Conservatory.

Having studied the flute all over the United States and Europe with world renowned flutists, Jennifer is grateful to all her teachers and over the years has synthesized what she has learned and continues to learn into her own style of teaching. Her passion for music and all of its forms of expression come through in her inspired and dynamic teaching. Ms. Keeney's Studio is primarily made up of Professional, University and High School students.

The focus of her teaching is to instruct, inspire and develop the individual in their holistic musical life. Ms. Keeney believes that learning is a dynamic, exchange between the teacher and the student/s. All incorporate the joy and art of music, the fundamentals of flute playing and musicianship as well as specific techniques and creative practice ideas for the growth of the individual student. These all involve playing the classical flute as well as any interest the student may have in learning to improvise, writing their own music and playing the piccolo, alto and bass flutes.

Students get to know and play for each other in monthly group classes that are offered by Ms. Keeney and  Master Classes with the guest flutists/artists she brings in each year.
